FREE Residential Recycling—Tote Included.
SP Services is bringing single-stream recycling to San Luis Valley households — picked up every other week, on the same day as your trash. Your tote and recycling service are included at no charge.

Residential Recycling Program • Pickup Starts in December
Recycling is coming to the San Luis Valley.
SP Services is launching single-stream recycling. Recycling totes start being delivered in the next couple of weeks, and pickup begins the first week of December. Every resident in our service area is eligible to receive a recycling cart.
Recycling is picked up every other week, on the same day as your regular trash — one truck for trash and a second truck for recycling. You don't need to change a thing about your trash service; just set your tote out on the right week.
We're rolling out to our existing customers first. Not an SP customer yet? No problem — just call, and we'll set up recycling service for your home.
Totes start arriving in the next couple of weeks — call the office and we'll get recycling service set up for you.

Funded by packaging and paper producers through Colorado's recycling program — not by you.
Funded by producers. Not by residents.
This service is funded by the companies that produce and sell packaging and paper products, through Colorado's recycling program. The program is administered by Circular Action Alliance (CAA). That's why residents can receive recycling service — and a recycling tote — at no charge.
View CAA's Colorado recycling guideWhat is single-stream recycling?
Single-stream means you place all of your accepted recyclables together in one recycling tote — no sorting into separate bins. Keep trash separate from recycling, and that's it. One tote, collected every other week on your trash day.
Put it in the tote
- Empty and rinse containers — no food or liquids left inside.
- Keep everything dry.
- Flatten cardboard boxes.
- Place recyclables loose in the tote — never in plastic bags.
Keep it out
None of these belong in the recycling tote:
- Food and liquids
- Plastic bags and plastic wrap
- Batteries
- Hoses
- Cords and electronics cords
- Diapers
- Medical waste
One note on materials: CAA's educational guide shows what is recyclable across Colorado. SP's final accepted-materials guide will be provided before collection begins — that list is the one to follow once recycling starts.
